The National Wildflower Centre is delighted to announce
the winners of our first Scarecrow Festival. With over
20 scarecrows entering the competition and all created by schools in
Knowsley and Liverpool.
Minty from BBC Radio Merseyside's Tony Snell at Breakfast programme
had a tough time judging the 24 entries on Thursday 16th July!
The winners are …
Infant School
Winner - St.Andrew the Apostle, Halewood.
"Miss Plastic Fantastic" - made entirely of recycled plastic
bags.
Highly Commended - Malvern Primary, Huyton.
"Bughouse Scarecrow" - lots of nooks and crannies for insects
to make a home.
Junior School
Winner - St.Cuthbert's, Old Swan.
"Busy Buzzy Bee" - Really enormous bumble bee, very topical
at the moment.
Highly Commended - Royal School for the Blind, Wavertree.
"O - Feel - ia" - her earrings are made from sleigh bells
and make a lovely sound moving in the breeze.
All schools taking part received a goody bag and a professional full
colour photo of their scarecrow to keep. The winning Infant and Junior
schools each received a unique trophy.
The festival was sponsored by Rowse Honey with support from Merseytravel.
More scarecrows can be viewed on the courtheypark flickr page.
You can see our scarecrows at the centre until the end of
