Project Brief
Landlife's soil
inversion concept is an elegant approach to landscape change of national significance
that does break new ground.
Objectives
- To raise
awareness of a potential better way of doing things.
- To establish
the validity of the concept of soil inversion.
- To adapt working
practices through new thinking to create a better environment for the future.
Year One
- Outline the
concept of soil inversion with clarity and honesty - establish a discussion
network with major agencies
- Research and
agree practical steps to take the project forward
- Identify
barriers (e.g. subsoil mapping and archaeological concerns) consider simple
approaches to overcoming obstacles.
- Use Landlife's
Woodland Wildflower Project to raise awareness with communities nationally.
Year Two
- Demonstrate
Actions to prepare sites and involve communities in sourcing seed locally
where possible.
- Arrange demonstrations
of subsoil inversion with appropriate equipment.
- Establish
record and interpret sites with help of partner groups.
Year Three
- Confirm carbon
position.
- Record and
monitor sites and publish findings, peer group assessment.
- Promotion
through the woodland wildflowers project and Eden Project.
