Great Outdoors was thrilled to be one of the lucky winners at the Merseyside Transport awards on Tuesday 13th October 2009, winning the WalkWise Award for best walking initiative or achievement.

Announced during the Merseyside Transport Conference, the awards recognise the businesses, organisations and individuals working towards a sustainable transport future for Merseyside. More

Top Regional project
Top Regional project in Big Lottery's Target Wellbeing programme
In September 2009, 2 years into a 4 year project, Great Outdoors celebrated its impact with other Target: Wellbeing projects at a regional event run by Groundwork Northwest.

Great Outdoors was named as top regional project and the National Wildflower Centre was recognised as a health and wellbeing 'hub' for a range of activities that encourage people to use their 'Natural Health Service'.

Wildflower Charity Scoops National Health and Humanity Award for wildflowers in Knowsley
Environment charity Landlife, based at the National Wildflower Centre in Knowsley, near Liverpool, has been awarded a national award for its work for health and the environment by the UK Public Health Association (UKPHA)

The Michael Varnam award is presented annually by the UKPHA in recognition of the outstanding contribution to Health, Humanity and Environment. Press Release
