Knowsley 'The Wildflower Borough'

The Wildflower Borough is living up to its name as 12 hectares across Knowsley were sown in spring 2008 with cornfield annuals and perennial meadow mixes.

The huge popular response to earlier sowings in Kirkby convinced funders that this work makes a real contribution to the quality of life in the outer estates, adds to biodiversity, reduces co2 emissions from mowing and, with more people walking out to see the flowers, contributes to general heath and well being.

Landife will be commencing this programme of Neighbourhood Renewal Funded work in March focused on the main route into Kirkby but also incorporating parks and areas of public open space. Watch this space for before and after images as this substantial area of sowings come into flower.

Field visit by delegates from The University of Sheffield's Nature Enhanced conference.
