Galanthus nivalis has been awarded the Award of Garden Merit for outstanding excellence by the Royal Horticultural Society. Also known as the 'common snowdrop' these bulbs are very widespread and will produce a clump of small beautiful white flower heads.
These are purple tulip-shaped bells on slim stems, they are essential for naturalising a wildflower garden or woodland edge. they were once found throughout the UK. They require soil that remains moist throughout the spring.
Galanthus nivalis (flore pleno) is a naturally forming double variety of our native snowdrop. Produces attractive flowers from January to March and can sometimes even flower earlier than the single snowdrops.
Also known as 'Lent Lily' the narcissus lobularis is a more delicate plant than its cultivated counterparts. A golden trumpet and pale yellow perianth along with its grey-green leaves make this wild daffodil quite distinctive.
Also known as the 'Tenby Daffodil' this is the main daffodil species native to Britain. Narcissi obvallaris usually flower around March time and are particularly suited to growing on rocky ground, grassland and woodlands, where shade is common.
Anemone nemorosa just overlap with the flowering period of Bluebells and look stunning when planted together. Their star-like white flowers can be seen carpeting woodland floors before the trees burst into leaf.
Spring Snowflake is much like The Summer Snowflake (Leucojum aestivum) but with single scented flowers, which drop pollen on the slightest impact. The flower is bell-like and delicate with a green spot on each petal of the white flower.
Summer Snowflake or Loddon Lily (from the River Loddon in Berkshire) is the taller member of this varied family. The bright green leaves create a stunning contrast to the large, pure white flowers that appear in late spring. The petals have green spots on the tips.
Star of Bethlehem Bulbs is a perennial bulbous flowering plant of the family Hyacinthaceae. The plant produces groups of 6-20 white flowers, that have a green stripe on the outside.
Nodding Star of Bethlehem Bulbs is a pretty perennial bulbous flowering plant. Thrives in grasslands and flowers mid to late spring, blossoms into white star-shaped flowers with vivid green leaves.
